The Huon 31-year-old teamed up with South Australian Molly Goodman and Victorians Lucy Stephan and Katrina Werry in Australia’s women’s four at the world championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Defending the title they won in Florida last year, the crew progressed to the semi-final with victory in their heat.
Needing a top-three finish, the crew led from the start and by the middle had built up a boat length advantage over Germany with Poland close behind.
As the crews crossed the line, Australia took the win in a time of 6 minutes 28 seconds, while Poland surged ahead Germany who held off a late challenge from Canada.
Tamar’s Ciona Wilson, 26, is the other Tasmanian competitor in the women’s eight while Huon’s Georgia Nesbitt, also 26, is a reserve for the lightweight women’s double scull.
