Ranking first in the Tasmanian top 30 as voting in The Australian Fish & Chips Awards 2018 enters the final week, Fraggles owner Chris Fragoulis said running a fish and chip shop was in his blood.

“Dad grew up in a fish and chip shop and ran one for 30 years,” Mr Fragoulis said.

It was through his father that he learned the art of cooking and serving fish and chips.

“There are no short cuts – it’s all done in the old-fashioned way,” he said.

“We use local fish, as opposed to imported fish, and cut our own chips from Tasmanian potatoes in the old-fashioned way.”

Fraggles has been at the Invermay Road shop for three years, with good seafood, good staff and good service the hallmarks of the business.

“We use fresh local Tasmanian produce and have good staff. It’s lots of hard work and long hours, but that’s what sets us apart from others,” Mr Fragoulis said.
