FutureFest will feature 65 different events designed to showcase technological developments across the state.
It is being organised through TasICT, who released the schedule for the week on Monday afternoon.
Program manager Katy Cooper said the festival was aimed at four key audiences.
“It is for students who are interested in technology, the start-up community, corporate IT and technology firms, and any Tasmanian businesses that want to understand technology better,” she said.
“The program is really about creating a brand that we can use every year to let people know of all the awesome developments happening here in Tasmania.”
Formal events include an Enterprize and UTAS pitching competition, a Young IT conference conducted through the Australian Computer Society, a parliamentary breakfast, a Women in Innovation lunch, a quiz night, and the TasICT conference.
Ms Cooper crafted the concept alongside TasICT chief executive Phil Pyke, who took over the role earlier in the year.
He said the state held a unique position within Australia’s technology industry.
“There is a lot of opportunity in Tasmania,” he said.
“We don’t have access to the bigger parts of industries such as defence, or the new space agency that has started up, so we have to be more innovative to fill those niche spots.
“There have been some marvellous successes where people have gone to create international projects from Tasmania.”
FutureFest will be held from October 15-19.
