The club will this weekend hold a registration event for new under-12s and under-15s junior teams.
Damian Whybrow, Cressy Cricket Club’s head coach, said there was a real buzz about the decision.
“The club’s really pumped to be able to do this.
“It’s all about the juniors.”
The move came about after an increased junior presence at the club in recent years – with 13 and 14-year-olds playing in a-reserve and c-grade teams – and a great senior recruitment round this year.
“They really held their own,” Mr Whybrow said.
“We don’t want to lose them.”
The new junior program will be overseen by Varun Nadesh, with Jacob Morris coaching the under-12s side.
The registration day will take place from noon on Saturday, September 16 at Cressy Cricket Ground.
