Just Browsing, a winner of eight races from nine starts over 515 metres, was a well backed favourite from box eight in the first heat last Monday. The daughter of My Bro Fabio and Dennes Point qualified with an outstanding victory running 29.96.
Just Browsing took her record to 17 starts for 11 wins and 2 placings for $41,720 in stakes.
“She is certainly a special bitch and it takes a lot to win from such a bad draw,” Fahey said.
“I have never had a chaser who has taken to a track like this but Just Browsing has such a big affinity with Launceston, what she has done early on in her career puts her I’d say as one of the best pups that Dennes Point has produced in all litters.”
Owned and bred in partnership with Gary’s brother Greg, their home-bred superstar resumed from a month spell following her all-conquering performance in the Division 1 final of the J.G Nelson Cup at Launceston in late July.
She is already a prolific winner of the Breeders Classic, Illingworth Classic and Tasmanian Oaks.
Just Browsing will meet a solid field for the final including the likes of rival heat winner Fasika for Penguin trainer Butch Deverell, which came off a wide draw in box seven to run out a 3 ½ length winner over Scared Shadow and Gran Amor in 30.34.
The Fahey brothers will look to have strength in numbers as Just Browsing’s litter sisters Sacred Shadow and Gentle Flash have also qualified for the all-female final.
Gentle Flash, prepared by Pauline and Alan Green, has won five races from 14 starts for the Granton-based kennel and qualified for the final running fourth to Fasika off box four.
“Just Browsing is far better drawn on the rail than out wide so getting box eight once again will make it hard and Sacred Shadow has box six and Gentle Flash has box four, so they will need luck from those draws but it all comes down to the first corner,” Gary said.
“I am hopeful that Just Browsing can begin well and push up with luck in transit, we’ve kept her lightly raced and knowing her recovery habits she always pulls up sound and we just hope that all three come through the race safely.”
