Tasmanian running star Stewart McSweyn says the thrill of smashing his personal best 5000m time far outweighed the pain of dislocating his shoulder on the finish line.

Racing in the Diamond League final in Brussels last weekend, McSweyn shaved 14 seconds off his previous benchmark by recording a time of 13:05.23 – the second-quickest in Australian history.
Speaking to Runner’s Tribe, McSweyn said it had been thrilling to take part in a race which was over in just 12:43.02.
“I’m just happy to be in that race, it’s crazy to be involved in, to see a guy run 12:43 in a race is pretty unreal,” McSweyn said.
“I think I went through (3000m) in about 7:50, 7:51 so I went through fast and I was feeling ok.
“I knew I just had to maintain my form and I was on for a big PB, so I was just focusing on that and trying to focus on competing with those few guys from about 7th through to 12th.”
McSweyn had an awkward fall just moments after crossing the line in 11th spot.
“My shoulder was dislocated so it popped out - I had to go to the medical room and get it put back in which was pretty painful, but I’ve got through it at least now so it’s feeling a bit better.”
