Football Federation Australia confirmed the quarter-final draw on Sunday for the NPL finals series that pits all eight federation winners Australia-wide in a knockout competition.
The Strikers kick-off the series at Valley Road against the five-time National Soccer League grand finalists from 1979 until 1986 in Saturday’s only match.
The remaining cutthroat finals over the following weekend are Canberra FC (ACT) and Campbelltown City SC (SA), Lions FC (QLD) facing Edgeworth FC (NNSW) and Sydney Olympic FC (NSW) up against Perth SC (WA).
The Warriors enter the game with Devonport confident on the back of winning last year’s NPL final series.
The occasion will also mark the third time this season that the Strikers have faced a Victorian opponent .
The Tasmanians pulled off an upset 3-1 win over Northcote City in the FFA Cup round of 32 in Melbourne.
But were found out of their depth in a 4-1 loss to Avondale in the cup’s next round.
Chris Gallo’s men will be motivated to claim the three finals games, with an automatic place awaiting in the 2019 FFA Cup for the winner.
