The St Marys District School’s Book Week parade took place on August 22.
Literacy coach Lynette Yodgee said for the first year, the school brought its book week parade out into the community.
Ms Yodgee said about 170 pupils from campuses at Fingal and St Marys took part.
“They were able to dress as their favorite characters, or to the theme Find Your Treasure,” she said.
Tasmania Police ensured the safety of the pupils as they traversed the streets on the way from school to the St Marys Library.
The library welcomed the opportunity to engage with the children as part of the festivities.
Ms Yodgee said it was a fun learning opportunity for the children.
“It was the most dressed up year in a long time,” she said. “They all went home talking about how much fun they had.”
