Tasmania Police Inspector Michael Johnston said there would be a high police presence at the East Coast town over the coming days, including uniformed and plain clothed police, Drug Investigation Services officers, and drug detection dogs.
Additional police resources will also be rostered to undertake patrols outside the event and around the St Helens area in the lead-up to, and after, the event.
“This is a family friendly, drug and alcohol free event and we will be patrolling the site to ensure everyone’s safety,” Inspector Johnston said.
“Our aim is to get everyone home safely and that includes testing drivers and removing those affected by alcohol and drugs from the roads.”
Speed reductions will be in place at St Helens from 10am August 31 until 10am September 3.
The St Helens township speed limit will be reduced to 40 km/h, the St Helens Sports Complex area to 20 km/h, and 500 metres either side of After Party at 24798 Tasman Highway will be reduced to 60 km/h.
