A 24-year-old was stabbed and his 49-year-old father was assaulted in their Huon Court home.
Launceston CIB Detective Inspector Philippa Burk said two people who had driven to the home about 8pm Monday were wanted by police.
“It was not just an isolated incident,” she said.
“We are looking for a female and a male in connection with the incident.”
The stabbing victim was taken to hospital by ambulance, suffering injuries to his neck and thumb.
It is believed he will need surgery on his thumb.
The father received cuts to his nose and right hand and bruising to his eye and elbow, but was not taken to hospital.
The 26-year-old woman and 31-year-old man who are suspects in the case left the scene before emergency services arrived.
“My firm advice to them is to surrender themselves to the Launceston Police Station,” Detective Inspector Burk said.
“It’s a situation where we know the identity of the people we are looking for and the best thing they could do is to just come here and hand themselves in.”
Detectives are now looking for a car they believe the pair were travelling in.
Anyone who saw a silver Astra, with NSW registration plates has been urged to contact police on 131 444.
The knife has not been recovered.
