The parade was held by the Launceston Library to farewell the Children’s Book Council of Australia’s National Book Week.
CBCA National Book Week 2018 was held in schools, libraries and book stores across the country between August 18-24.
Riverside Primary School held a readers picnic earlier in the week, to celebrate its love for the written word.
Launceston Library held the Book Week parade in Civic Square to celebrate the theme ‘find your treasure’.
The parade was held in conjunction with a live action adventure with audience participation, costumes and props.
Children were asked to help their favourite book characters find their lost treasures.
Book Week is held each year to encourage early reading rates among children.
