More than 140 people hung up their Blundstone boots on Friday night to help the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association celebrate its 70th anniversary.
President Wayne Johnston honoured the association’s life members during his speech and said the atmosphere on the night was one of camaraderie.
“There were people there who hadn’t been under the same roof for many years. It was the best atmosphere,” he said.
Speakers discussed the organisation’s past and present achievements, while looking to the future of agriculture within Tasmania and around the world.
“Julian Cribb spoke about the sustainable future of farming and ways we can adapt to provide more food for more people,” Mr Johnston said.
“He told us it’s not what’s in our back paddocks for export, but what’s between our ears in Tasmanian farmers’ innovative practices.”
The association’s anniversary dinner was held at Country Club Tasmania, Prospect Vale.
