The 27-year-old Broadmarsh trainer took two horses to the meeting, winning with Red Pearl and finishing third with first-starter Evil In Me.
Cotton has been training for less than two years. She had her first runner in January 2017.
She’s had only 30 starters and seven of the past 23 have won at an enviable strike-rate of 30.4 per cent.
Her wins include a double at Elwick on July 11 with Red Pearl and Cascade City, the only two horses she had racing at the time.
Red Pearl, a five-year-old mare, has won twice in 12 starts but her racing days may be numbered.
“She went to stud last year but missed,” Cotton said. “She’ll probably go again this year, maybe even after this run.
“She has a lot of ability but she is a thinker. She had a run in Melbourne but they couldn’t get her head right.”
Cotton, an accomplished horsewoman who rides trackwork and also works as clerk-of-the-course at Hobart meetings, leases a half share of Red Pearl.
STILL FAVOURITE
Tasmanian star Ignatius has retained favouritism for Saturday night’s $195,000 Breeders Crown 3YO C&G final at Melton.
The James Rattrray-trained gelding went down by a half neck to Poster Boy in his semi-final at Bendigo after facing the breeze.
It was a brave effort as the winner rated a track record 1:54.2 for the 2150m.
Ignatius and Poster Boy have both drawn the second row in the final and Sportsbet has them at $3 and $4.20 respectively.
Tasmanian-owned and trained Max Delight ran fourth in his 2YO C&G semi-final and is at $125 for the final.
HAPPY FIESTA
Two Launceston businessmen had reason to celebrate after Fiesta won the group 2 $200,000 Silver Shadow Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.
Bruno Calabro and John McCrimmon are part-owners of the Chris Waller-trained filly who has now earned $434,000.
She was bought as a yearling by former Tasmanian syndicator Denise Martin for $150,000.
Waller said that Fiesta would continue to contest the rich Princess Series of which the Silver Shadow was the first leg.
