Nearly 20 people took part in Plastic Free Launceston’s monthly bag-making workshop at Launceston Church Grammar on Sunday.
Started more than a year ago, the sessions consist of volunteers sewing together bags which are available for a gold coin donation at Young’s Vegie Shed.
Plastic Free Launceston also uses the gatherings to introduce members of the community to other plastic free alternatives.
On Sunday, participants learned how to make their own deodorant using arrowroot, baking soda and coconut oil. Plastic Free Launceston spokeswoman Trish Haeusler said the group welcomed suggestions on what areas it should focus on.
“These workshops are about being part of the solution,” she said.
“We encourage to people come up with their own ideas.”
