Detectives are now hunting for a fourth vehicle of interest as part of the investigation.
The 24-year-old disappeared from Riverside on Wednesday night and his own car was found abandoned in Balmoral Street.
A missing person post about the young Launceston man has been shared thousands of times online, with his family and friends urging anyone with information to come forward and “help bring Jake home”.
Police put its own call out on Friday for information about two cars, a black 2015 Range Rover Evoque and black 2016 Jeep Cheroke, which were later located.
On Sunday they issued another call out, this time for another car – a white 2006 Mazda 6, registration FN2477.
In an attempt to find the missing man himself, detectives have been working around-the-clock, with officers both on the ground and in the air searching.
On Saturday morning, two people were taken into custody for questioning.
The 26-year-old man and 25-year-old woman from Riverside remained in custody on Sunday afternoon, but had not been charged.
It has not been revealed if either the man or woman were known to the missing man.
Detective Acting Inspector Craig Fox said police still held concerns for the welfare of Mr Anderson-Brettner, and believed the two people arrested may have information about his whereabouts.
“While we hope to find him alive and well at this stage of the investigation we can’t rule out that foul play may be involved,” he said.
As part of the investigation, police are hoping to speak with anyone who has information about the white Mazda, as well as the three other vehicles, including the missing man’s ute.
“Police have the three black cars, but their movements and the current location of the white Mazda may provide vital information in relation to Jake’s movements,” Detective Acting Inspector Fox said.
The cars were believed to have been travelling in the Riverside area between 6pm Wednesday and 4.30pm Thursday.
Anyone with information about the vehicles or the disappearance of Mr Anderson-Brettner has been urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
