Snow will fall to 400 metres this weekend in Tasmania, potentially down to 300 in the south, and Ms Foot said the conditions were perfect to extend their season well beyond the predicted end of August.
“It’s really cold which makes it really hard and sharp, which makes it easy for people to learn on,” she said. “We flatten out the snow which has fallen, which makes it easy for everyone to use.
“The thing with this extra bit of snow is that normally we would start to scale back this time of year, but because there’s snow due we think we’ll start picking up again.
“It’s fantastic, it’s lovely to see kids enjoying themselves. We’ve got a school group here now, and the tourists love the wildlife.”
She said they were expecting a huge weekend this weekend, and plenty of visitors up until potentially late September.
One of those visitors on Friday was Steven Moyes from Perth, who brought his four-year-old daughter Madelyn to Ben Lomond to see the snow.
“She’s loving it, it’s her first time,” he said. “We’ve just been tobogganing...I think she’ll be back.”
