Hobart’s Scott Bowden and Launceston’s Oliver Martin sit in 15th and 16th spot respectively after both gained three spots by finishing in a 73-rider bunch at the end of the 92.9km stage from Heywood to Casterton.
Launceston’s Josh Duffy finished tenth and 26 seconds after stage winner Jason Thomason’s 2:22:08 to be the first Tasmanian home, while Bowden recorded the same time in 18th.
Martin was back in 27th, with TIS riders Conor Leahy, Zack Gilmore, Daniel Di Domenico, Jake Oliver and Luke Thompson also part of the 73-rider bunch.
Hobart’s Ben Van Dam finished in 59th, while Zach Johnson was one minute off the pace in 80th spot.
Leahy’s effort was enough to see him jump up to ninth in the young rider standings.

North-West duo Amy Cure and Macey Stewart have tasted success in Germany, taking out the elite women’s madison at the Owls Raceday event in Ludwigshafen.
The Wiggle High 5 duo will race in the Czech Republic next week before turning their attention to events in Slovenia and Belgium.
