The pair are both a minute and six seconds behind Bowden’s teammate and leader Ayden Toovey after 18th and 19 stage three finished on Thursday.
TIS Racing Team debutant Conor Leahy is next back in 26th place and 2:25 in arrears after finishing 1:19 off the pace following 128.5 kilometres on day two.
Teammates Daniel Di Domenico, captain Zack Gilmore and Zach Johnson were all plus 5:36 behind with Johnson next best placed behind Leahy in 61st spot on general classification.
Others are: Thompson (70th), Gilmore (72th), Di Domenico (75th), Jake Oliver (82nd) and Josh Duffy (88th).
TIS is 11th in the team standings, while Leah is 10th in the young rider standings.
Day four of the six-stage National Road Series event will see riders travel 92.9km from Heywood to Casterton.
