The annual Love Africa Ball will return to Riverside’s Tailrace Centre on Saturday, September 1.
The event will mark the biggest fundraiser to date for the Care for Africa Foundation.
Formed in 2006, the foundation has since raised more than $4 million and helped over 32,000 people living in six remote Tanzanian villages.
Chief executive and co-founder Diana Butler OAM said the not for profit organisation’s core purpose was to break the cycle of poverty, through community initiated programs centred around health and education.
“Our motives have always been community driven,” she said.
“Really what we strive to achieve is about capacity building.
“We want to empower the people living in these villages and give them the resources that will enable them to overcome poverty.
“That is at the very heart of what we do.”

The foundation’s contribution has not gone unnoticed, with Ms Butler set to fly to Africa the day after the ball to accept an award from the Tanzanian government.
However, she said being able to see the affect the foundation was having on the ground was reward enough.
“We are seeing real change and that is why we do it,” she said.
“Plus the ongoing support and generosity from the Launceston community cannot be understated.
“We are really just so proud of the people who have gotten behind us over the years.
“Because without them we really wouldn’t have been able to make the impact that we have.”
All proceeds from the Love Africa Ball will go towards the foundation’s water and sanitation programs.
The black tie evening will feature entertainment from the Jam Plan and the Taiko Drummers, as well as an auction of Tasmanian and Tanzanian artworks.
Tickets are $120 each for a table of 10, or $100 per ticket, and include a drink on arrival as well as five drink vouchers.
Tickets can be purchased online through Eventbrite or via the Care for Africa Facebook page.
