In November, three Launceston women will travel to Vietnam to take part in the 11^th annual World Supermodel Production and International Fashion Week. About 50 of the world’s leading models from 32 different countries will take part.

Tasmania and Victoria Miss Teen Australia state manager Sue Rees said it was obvious the girls had been noticed during recent competitions.  

“Chelsea [Freestone] was runner up Miss Teen Tasmania, but the winner pulled out so she went up to that title. In Fiji, she took out the most photogenic,” Ms Rees said. 

Liana House made the top six finalists at the World Supermodel South Pacific held in Fiji earlier this year, and top 13 of Miss Teen Australia. Olivia Willis made the top four at the World Supermodel competition. 

“These girls are all in individual titles, which is fantastic because they’re not competing against each other,” Ms Rees said. “That means there are various titles they can win. I’m sure they can make it the whole way.” 

Despite being entered in different categories, the girls will perform together. 

“The juniors and the seniors will all be wearing the same outfits, which have a black and white theme,” Ms Rees said. “They have to have a black and white gown, a couple of black and white segments, so I really think they’re just leaving it up to the girls to see what they come up with because of course they’re going to be judged on their fashion sense.”

The girls could win a 12-month modelling contract in New York. 

“Models from New York are going to be on the judging panel, and they’re looking at recruiting,” Ms Rees said. 

The next three months involves a lot of planning for the entrants, whose dresses are being made by Timeless Elegance’s Louise Scott. 

“All the girls are just so professional, they want everything just spot on. They’ll also be doing a lot of miles on their legs to practise,” Ms Rees said.
