The independent sellers will host nearly 20 local writers throughout the day at their Tasmanian Authors Showcase, as well as three photographers on the preceding Friday night from 7pm.
Sue Harrison, who will be speaking at the event and hopes to sell a few copies of her latest murder mystery romance, said there is nothing like the feeling of seeing someone buy her book in person.
“When someone you don’t know buys your book because they look at the cover and read the blurb and think they like the look of it, that’s really exciting,” she said.
Stories owner Damian Morgan said Tasmanian writing has come into its own over the past 20 years.
“The quality of Tasmanian books is world-class,” he said.
“We thought this would be an opportunity to mix writers, the publishers who support them, us as a bookshop, and the market, because the books deserve it.”
