On Wednesday the City of Launceston council launched the community consultation phase for its Northern Suburbs Revitalisation Plan.
Known as “My Place My Future”, the plan forms part of the Launceston City Deal, signed by all three levels of government in April last year.
Northern Suburbs Community House manager Denise Delphin said the plan was an exciting opportunity to have community voices heard.
“We are all very proud to live, work and play in the northern suburbs,” she said.
“This is the beginning for all of us to work together, to ensure the delivery of community actions.
“It is a great opportunity and we are just really excited that members of the community will have a chance to have their say.
“But I think it is really also important that we take into consideration the concerns of the community, that have already been raised.
“We need to ensure their voices are heard.”

The northern suburbs represent about 25 per cent of Launceston’s population.
Through the City Deal, the council has employed a project manager to deliver the plan and oversee its implementation.
Key focuses will include health and well-being, housing, education, transport, employment, economic growth and infrastructure.
Community members are encouraged to have their say on what the plan should consider, through a survey available from the Your Voice Your Launceston website.
The council are also installing iPads in four neighbourhood houses, to assist with the survey uptake.
City of Launceston mayor Albert van Zetten said the northern suburbs was one of the most disadvantaged areas in Australia.
“It’s been neglected over many years and we believe it’s time that we start to invest in the people in this area and really support those who do absolutely amazing jobs,” he said.
“We know that in Australia, this is one of the worst, most disadvantaged areas in the country.
“That is important to the federal government and that is important to the state government.”
The Northern Suburbs Revitalisation Plan is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2019.
