The Australian Maritime College’s world-class ship’s bridge and engine room simulators will be fully operational on Saturday for the AMC and UTAS open day.
Centre for Maritime Simulations manager Damien Freeman said the simulations were a popular addition to open day, and that those looking to study in the area wouldn’t find better simulators “anywhere in the world”.
“It’s kind of a game, but it’s taken extremely seriously by the real users,” he said.
“When the layman comes to have a look and comes on board, it’s just fun and a great experience for them.”
The simulations will involve sailing into Sydney Harbour and experiencing an emergency response situation.

The annual Australian Maritime College and north University of Tasmania campus open day will take place on Saturday, August 11 from 10am to 3pm.
