EARLIER: Fire has contributed to hundreds of power outages at Cressy on Wednesday morning.
As of 8am, 424 customers were without power on the town’s main street, including at Cressy District High School.
Earlier, the outage had stretched to more than 700 customers, including at Longford and Perth.
The school advised via its Facebook page that parents were “welcome to keep students at home” but that if students came to school they would be looked after.
TasNetworks posted via social media that it has crews onsite to replace the power pole, which was affected by fire about 7.30am.
The company has advised of an estimated restoration time of about 3pm.
