The stallholders from each site were recognised for their sustainable methods at Saturday’s Harvest Market, presented with $300 signage vouchers from Think Big Printing.
It was last year’s Plastic Free July which prompted permanent operational changes from both stalls.
Erinvale’s Wayne Adams decided to offer his product in brown paper bags, while Coronea Grove Olive’s Robert Goddard decided to let customers bring their own olive oil bottles from home.
The pair received a personal thank you from Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis, who is visiting Launceston as part of the Tamar Valley Peace Festival.
Mr Georgiadis said the stalls should serve as an example to the community.
“It goes to show we can shift habits and methods,” he said.
“When people see what these guys have done, then they are likely to take up the challenge themselves.
“It’s a great story.”
