The essay-based competition is open to year 9 students throughout the state, aiming to promote and preserve the meaning of the Anzac spirit.
The six winning students and two teachers will participate in a study tour of the Western Front in Belgium and France, providing an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the role of Tasmanians in World War I and other conflicts.
Veterans’ Affairs minister Guy Barnett said successful students would be announced at a ceremony in October.
Mr Barnett encouraged all interested year nine pupils and teachers to apply for this “wonderful opportunity”.
Information is available at www.communities.tas.gov.au.
Final submissions are due August 24.
