Eat Street will continue to be monitored by the City of Launceston council after a food van without a permit was trading from the site earlier this week.

General manager Michael Stretton said the council would contact the van operator.
“Council officers regularly monitor designated areas to ensure a level playing field and for operators, and to ensure compliance with regulations,” Mr Stretton said.
“We'll follow up with the van operator, who may have made an oversight or been unaware of the regulations in place.”

The council regulated the popular site on High Street earlier this year after safety concerns were raised.
Four vans, Small Grain, Sailor Food Truck, Burger Junkie and Turkish Tukka applied for the four permits in May and were successful.
The council charges $2000 per permit, per year.
