The 35-year-old Launceston product and reigning domestic cricketer of the year said that just making the Big Bash League and Sheffield Shield deciders was a significant achievement.
“Obviously we would have liked to have won… [but] the nature of T20 is that’s how those things tend to go,” Bailey said on Thursday.
“Taking the season as a whole I thought we grew as a group and learnt so much about a lot of individuals.
“We never got to a stage where we were playing great cricket really consistently, which is something you could say about the Hurricanes for a number of years.
“We sort of have a couple of great games and then a really disappointing game so our biggest focus is still just being consistently good.”
For the first time in a while Bailey has opted to remain in the state and do a pre-season, rather than take part in the English summer.
He spent a lot of time with the Tigers rising stars and that he would think about his playing and captaincy future after Christmas.
“You’re always trying to develop our younger leaders and that’s been a real big focus in the past 12 months under Grif [Adam Griffith] and under Jeff Vaughan,” he said.
“There is no one standout to me and I think that’s exciting.
“There is a handful of guys who I think on the back of a really good year and another year of development, are a handful of guys who could be the next captain of Tasmania.”
