The Western Junction distillery, housed in new whisky cellar door Hangar 17, launched its product on Sunday afternoon.
Crown Cellars, who will be the only Launceston bottle shop to sell the whisky, sold out of its first stock by 9am.
“We got a dozen [bottles] straight up and then they were gone by 9 o’clock this morning,” Crown Cellars manager Ryan Chandler said.
"I put them on the shelf at 6.30[am] on the shelf and they were gone by 9[am].
“We’ve got another 10 out the back now after we re-stocked.”
Launceston Distillery released four types of single malt whisky, which has been distilled and stored over the past three years.

Mr Chandler said he was fielding calls from far and wide from people who wanted to buy whisky from the first Launceston distiller in 175 years.
“People are ringing up from interstate and saying, ‘can you send some over’, which is awesome,” he said.
