A planning scheme amendment was initiated by the Dorset Council to rezone both 6 Arnold Place and Hawkes Place at Scottsdale.
Community and development director Rohan Willis said the two sites were unused due to deficiencies in location, and a focus on open space and recreational facilities at the Scottsdale Recreation Ground.
The council had no plan to develop either parcel of land for public space purposes.
“Council has an agreement with CatholicCare Tasmania for the provision of social housing upon both parcels of land subject to the rezoning application, which will provide a critical contribution to meeting the identified need for social housing supply in Scottsdale.”
Representations on the amendment can be made in person to general manager, Tim Watson, no later than 5pm on August 15.
