The NTCA-based club is yet to decide whether it will remain alongside Launceston City in the statewide competition or drop back to the Northern Championship.
With Riverside Olympic seeking to make the opposite move, Sciulli is among those concerned whether Launceston can support three top-flight teams.
Having recorded just three wins from 13 matches, Sciulli told his players it was up to them to force the club’s hand.
An attention-grabbing win at South Hobart and Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Olympia have him hoping the players have provided an answer.
“The boys were playing pretty poor at that stage, they knew they needed to lift themselves and they have to keep doing that for the six that remain and hopefully the club will choose to re-sign in the next year,” he said.
“Otherwise we’ll see what happens.”
Asked what he thought would happen, Sciulli added: “I honestly don’t know.
“It’s a club decision to make now and they haven’t recommitted to next year yet. Hopefully they do but there’s a lot of things to think about – commitment of players, number of players, people working behind the scenes. It’s a huge commitment to play in the NPL.
“I want to see us keep going, I really do. We look like we might lose two or three players to the mainland but hopefully we can try and find some players from somewhere else.
“But Riverside coming in is going to make it extremely hard to find local people.
“It’s not my decision. I think that it’s going to be tough for them but it’s something the club will have to really strongly think about, particularly if we put some really good results in over the next few weeks.”
Rangers only face one more trip to Hobart this season. They will host Hobart Zebras, Clarence and Kingborough with away games at Launceston City, Devonport and South Hobart remaining.
