The popular afternoon events began on Sunday and feature a different aspect of the reserve over a series of four weeks.
The opening event attracted a mixture of experienced and beginning orienteers with more to be held on July 29, August 5 and 19 as well as an additional event on August 12 on the historic private property, Uplands, near Deddington.
Billed as the Northern Classic, the Uplands event will feature nine courses ranging up to 12 kilometres.
The series seeks to provide a new level of experience for newcomers to EVOC’s Wednesday twilight series held earlier in the year in suburban parks and reserves around Launceston.
Trevallyn Reserve provides a wide variety of terrain, perfect for introducing local orienteering to newcomers, as well as challenging the more experienced.
Organisers said the interlocking tracks and open bushland of Trevallyn Reserve provide ideal terrain for orienteers.
