Launceston duo Dylan Evans and Milly Clark claimed the top titles at the Tasmanian Cross-Country Championships on Saturday.

Evans clocked 33:13 to comfortably win the 10-kilometre event at Rokeby Police Academy from Northern Suburbs duo Grant Page (33:51) and Phillip McConnon (35:16).
Launceston-born but Sydney-based Clark, who was Australia’s best-placed finisher in the marathon at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, won the women’s event by nearly two minutes.
The UTAS runner clocked 38:25 to lead home Melanie Daniels, of Northern Suburbs (40:18) and Sandy Bay’s Anna Smee (44:39).
Newstead Athletics members dominated the junior races with Lucy Jones (15:38) claiming the under-18 women’s 4km as her clubmates Emily Macinnes (fourth, 18:33), Montana McKenzie (sixth, 20:10) and Lillian Giles (eighth, 21:37) also made the top 10.
North-West’s Darcy Miller was second in 16:21.
The women’s under-16 4km saw Newstead claim the top four places through Abbie Butler (15:56), Madison Brazendale (17:05), Erin Giles (17:18) and Maddison Bakes (18:51).
Sam Talbot completed a Newstead double in the age group by winning in 14:21 from Edward Golding (14:49), of Eastern Suburbs.
The under-12 3km races also witnessed a Northern double as Newstead’s Xavier Davie (11:57) won the men while North Launceston’s Averyl Quinn (12:01) led home Newstead’s Abbey Berlese (12:23) in the women.
The under-14 races were won by Isaac Bonsey (UTAS, 11:05) and Metasebia Duggan (OVA, 12:03).
Northern Suburbs’ emerging distance sensation Meriem Daoui topped an all-Southern podium in the under-20 women’s 6km, clocking 22:36.
OVA’s Robert Elkerton (21:33) won the under-18 men’s 6km from Launceston’s Ethan Stretton (UTAS, 22:35) and Joshua Hurd (North-West, 23:17).
In the open team results, University of Tasmania (18 points) led home Northern Suburbs (23) and Sandy Bay (37) in the men while the women saw Northern Suburbs (15) edge out Sandy Bay.
