The 2017 figure is five higher than on-farm fatalities from 2016, with nine of those 68 children.
Farmsafe Australia chairman Charles Armstrong said more needed to be done to prevent such deaths.
“Farm safety is something that we often take for granted, of course no one wants to be injured or see others injured,” Mr Armstrong said.
“As an industry we have been improving our safety record, with overall reductions in the number of farm injury deaths approaching 60 per cent over the past two decades.”
Technology enables opportunities for innovative solutions around farm safety, such as using QR code for safety inductions, using personal locator beacons and designing safety improvements for farm equipment.
