Safe Work Australia chief executive Michelle Baxter said National Farm Safety Week was a good time to reflect on no-harm farms.
“Farms are one of the most rewarding workplaces, but also one of the most dangerous,” Ms Baxter said.
“They can present a combination of hazards, including exposure to noise, quad bikes, plant and machinery, working with animals, chemicals, dust, sun exposure, working alone or working remotely.”
Increase farm safety by retiring old equipment, choosing the safest equipment for the farm and keeping it well maintained.

“Use the safest chemicals and follow the manufacturers’ instructions, and make sure your workers have the skills to work safely, particularly when handling animals and using farm equipment,” Ms Baxter said.
