Break O’Day councillor Janet Drummond put forward a notice of motion for the council to work with the Nomenclature Board of Tasmania to name a currently unnamed road off Aulichs Road, St Marys.

Cr Drummond received requests from residents who live on the road for it to be named.

They were concerned emergency services would have difficulties funding the properties. The motion was passed unanimously.

Corporate services manager Bob Hoogland said negotiations were in place with the state government about the ownership, operation, and maintenance of the St Helens Wharf.

Mr Hoogland said a “disappointing reply” had been received from the state government about the wharf’s responsibility belonging to council, and that options would be considered for the “next step”.

Councillors voted to authorise the St Helens Hospital Auxiliary to operate the St Helens Tip Shop for a further three years with volunteers.

They aim to increase recycling and to generate additional funds for the support of the St Helens District Hospital.

The council voted to adopt and implement the Binalong Bay and Mathinna Local Township Plans for 2018-2020.

Parks and Wildlife Service is expected to share its assessment of dog management in the region in July, so the council can progress its Dog Management Policy.

The council also voted to provide a submission to the Legislative Council’s Select Committee in relation to the impact short-stay accommodation had on the region.
