Jarrod Judge appeared in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon following the incident outside Bakers Lane in the early hours of Sunday.
The 22-year-old Riverside man was charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
The alleged victim was 49-year-old Legana man Shaun Rosier, who remained in the intensive care unit at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Mr Judge did not enter a plea and bail was not opposed.
Magistrate Ken Stanton granted bail and the accused will reappear on August 24.
