The commute into Launceston is an easy drive and with plenty of good schools in the catchment area, families are looking in this suburb to find their forever home.
Newstead was orginally farm land and many of the homes in the area reflect the history of the development of the suburb.
From elaborate Georgian mansions popular from 1900-1910 to modest post-war bungalows, built as affordable housing for returning troops, the history of Newstead can be traced through its architecture.
As such, new developments are still shaping the suburb.
The site of the old Royal Showground has been developed into cutting-edge housing estates with new areas being opened as late as last year.
While many choose to purchase older homes and give them a modern spin while retaining the history of the building, many families choose Newstead for the ability to build a modern new home while still being close to the city.
Just over 27 per cent of residents who live in Newstead are professionals and these white collar workers enjoy a small suite of services such as a Coles, a gym, a hairdressers and a pub known for its great counter lunch. While the services are modest, Launceston city centre is just over 2kms away.
