Tasmanian Brick Enthusiasts president and joint-organiser of Brixhibition Ken Draeger said the two-day event had over 25 exhibitors showcasing their creativity.
“Lego is one thing that never breaks, it never grows old, and it’s unlimited to what you can do with it. That’s the appeal not just to us but everyone that comes as well,” he said.
Mr Draeger said other than stepping on Lego, which everyone knows is a pain like no other, there was only one other bad thing, not having enough pieces.
He said watching the hundreds of children not be able to contain their excitement as they walked through the doors with big smiles, was the highlight of the event.
“The attendance is pretty much what we expected, and obviously there are lots of happy smiley faces around the room, especially the young ones,” Mr Draeger said.
“The young ones are mainly what it’s all about … that is the core of what we do; it’s not just myself, everyone does it for the same reasons.”
Each year the exhibition is growing. Mr Draeger said the club didn’t go looking for new members.
“We have a lot of people that come to this event and say that they do this at home and then they inquire about exhibiting, and then next year they’re here,” he said.
Brixhibition’s second day will run from 9.30am to 4pm, Sunday at the Ulverstone Sport and Leisure Centre.
Rotary will be sizzling sausages, with money made on the day going towards community projects.
