The Launceston Night Market debuted in its new location with thousands eating, drinking, and enjoying the cold, clear night.
Event organiser Natasha Nieuwhof said the market’s goal was to connect and celebrate the community through winter with food, beverages, fire, and music.
“We hoped we would get a good crowd, but this surpassed our expectations,” she said.

“We are seeing so many great events being held in winter in Tasmania that embrace the cold and encourage people to rug up and come out and continue to enjoy what their community has to offer.”
Stallholders on the night offered a range of food such as seafood, vegan dishes, paella, slow-cooked pork, and desserts, alongside mulled wine and cider.
Music was also a major drawcard, with choirs such as Singcognito, the Launceston Male Choir, Obsessive Choral Disorder, and Vox Harmony Choir performing.
Acting Launceston mayor Rob Soward said the market coincided with Hawthorn’s final Launceston game for 2018, and was a perfect fit for a “tremendous night of celebration and entertainment”.
