Two youths were charged with using and possessing cannabis during a recent search at the Launceston skate park.
The search came after complaints from the public.
The operation involved 11 officers from Launceston’s Uniform Division and Northern Drug Investigation Services as well as drug detector dog Fang.
Launceston Inspector Darren Hopkins said “a number of youths admitted to using drugs”.
“As a result of tip offs from members of the public, police were informed that a number of youths were gathering around the Launceston skate park and using drugs,” he said.
“Police conducted around 18 searches and two people were charged.
“These random drug detection patrols will continue into the future to ensure the area is safe for everybody to use.”
