Phil’s Dive for a Cure, Light the Night, Ride for Pippa and World’s Greatest Shave have contributed to a combined total of $427,000 raised for the foundation from Tasmania throughout the past financial year.
Leukaemia Foundation community support lead for Victoria, Sharney Bowen, was on hand to receive a mock cheque for $31,000 from Phil’s Dive for a Cure coordinator Tach Malkin.
She said the state’s reputation for generosity was well known.
“We’ve always found Tasmania to be great supporters of the Leukaemia Foundation,” she said.
“The community spirit is really strong, so we know if someone with a personal connection to the cause organises an event, the community is going to get behind it.
“The number of events is growing each year, so we definitely want to keep that going.”
