The Launceston Police and Community Youth Club ran the activity with the aim to get children out to enjoy the outdoors.
Constable David Simpson ran the rock climbing adventure session at the Gorge’s Zig Zag Track on Wednesday.
“We want the kids to enjoy the outdoors,” he said.
“We want them to enjoy the challenge of abseiling and rock climbing.”
Constable Simpson said it was great to see the children outdoors enjoying themselves during their school holidays, rather than sitting indoors and watching TV, playing video games, or surfing the web.

“It might even get them to the PCYC for more activities,” he said.
Rock climbing participant Caidyn Leeder, 11, said he had abseiled before, so he thought he would give the PCYC session a go.
“It’s a good opportunity to get a badge for Scouts,” Caidyn said.
“It’s a lot of fun.”
The rock climbing sessions took place on Wednesday from 9am to noon, and 12.30pm to 3.30pm.
Rock climbing sessions will also take place on Friday.
