It’s the computer store – where customers can get online prices without going online and there’s a huge range of electronics to fawn over, including phones, cameras, games, printers and accessories.
It’s always provided an exciting shopping experience and great customer service, but now a total revamp has given the space a completely new feel that is clean, streamlined and not such a sensory overload.
The banners and colourful clutter have been replaced with stylish new display areas with computer stock grouped by price ranges - no more unnecessary scanning through the whole range before finding a PC at the right price.
Store manager Kumar Muktevi said that the whole area flows beautifully and finding the right section is easy and logical.
“Apple has sent us a magnificent display of its amazing technology - iMac, iPad and iPhone lovers will be in heaven,” he said.
“Our photo centre has also been revamped, with a new and much faster printer and new terminals for those downloading their precious images.”
It’s good to know that when you shop at Harvey Norman there’s always someone well trained and knowledgeable to lend a hand and nowhere is this more important than in the heady world of technology.
There is always four or five sales consultants available to help customers find what they need, get the advice they need and ultimately make the right purchase at the right price.
Don’t be surprised to be greeted at the front of the store and directed to the area required – and questions are always welcome and the best solutions found.
“Some team members specialise in Apple products, some in mobile phones, some in cameras - we can grab the right person for the query and they can help make the confusing not so confusing,” Kumar said.
The computer store even has technicians and operation staff on site seven days a week for that next level of service.
They are there to set up your new computer, clean up your old one ready for sale, service your equipment and make sure than everything from data transfers to servicing is professionally carried out.
“It’s all done here where customers can have confidence that their equipment doesn’t leave the premises and any work required is usually done by the next day,” Kumar said.
Harvey Norman director Trent Fuhrman-Luck said that he’s proud to be offering a premium shopping experience to the people of Launceston.
He said the latest improvements are based on feedback from customers.
This feedback was my blueprint for the changes that have been implemented, the main areas being a change in our team and a change of the store layout.
“With our team there are some fresh new faces, and we also have some familiar faces, and they all have a passion for retail, technology and customer service.
“I have also appointed a business manager who looks after our business customers and ABN holders, as we are situated a stone’s throw away from the Launceston CBD.
Trent’s vision for customer service, while always evolving, is based firmly on old fashioned, personalised service that makes customers feel valued, comfortable, and appreciated.
“The feedback from our customers has been amazing, which is exciting for me because it shows that our passion for this type of service is translating into great shopping experiences,” he said.
Just as importantly there has been a large cohort of consumers who have indicated that they prefer to help themselves.
This feedback was the catalyst for renovating the entire store so that individuals can find what they need easier without assistance.
“What I also found was that a lot of our customers didn’t know that we match our online prices in store,” Trent said.
“We have addressed this with clearer ticketing so customers are aware that all of the products that we offer in store are at our best online price.”
