City of Launceston general manager Michael Stretton said the council was working hard to make up for the time lost due to wet weather.

"We're working hard to make up the time we're losing to wet weather and are very excited to deliver this fantastic project for the Northern suburbs,” he said.

"Work on the Ravenswood skate park upgrade is proceeding well, although wet weather and boggy ground conditions have presented challenges and have put us a couple of weeks behind where we'd like to be.”

Mr Stretton said the most technically complex parts of the project were now completed, including the excavation works, installation of drainage pits and pipes and shaping of the ramps on the eastern side.

"The project will represent a significant upgrade to the skate park's ageing infrastructure, and follows consultation sessions held with Ravenswood community members and Launceston skaters last year,” Mr Stretton said.

The upgrade of the skate park is the first stage of a redevelopment of Ravenswood’s outdoor community space and will feature a cantilevered ramp, grinding rails and ledges.
