Competition was remarkably close at the Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre, with McKean, of East Launceston, and Tait, of St Leonards, winning all seven games by narrow margins.
Finishing in second place was Jan Barnes and Joan Williams, of St Leonards, with four wins, edging out Terry Byers and Jim Cox, of Devonport, by a single hoop late in the competition.
The competitive pattern of the tournament continued in division 2 with visiting Latrobe pair Felicity Green and Yvonne Mason defeating Monica Fleming and Pauline Blyth on home soil six wins to four.
This result was closely followed by David Polly and Noleene Franklin, also of the St Leonards Croquet Club.
The sport’s next event will be the Egyptian golf croquet competition also at the Northern Tasmania Croquet Centre on Thursday, July 19, at 10am.
