Launceston Competitions secretary Margaret East said it was amazing.
“It was wonderful support for the kids to have their parents and grandparents in the crowd,” she said.
On Monday, the song and dance groups under 10, restricted contemporary ballet solos, jazz and tap, and classical ballet dancers competed.
“The adjudicator, Kerry-Lynne Hauber, is doing a great job. I think she is quite impressed with the standard,” Mrs East said.
“She’s looking for technique appropriate for that type of dance. She has told them that classical ballet is an important genre and they should make sure they do it properly before they try and tackle something that’s too hard for them.”
Thousands of budding dancers will take part in the competitions.
“Some of these big groups have 20 or more competitors,” Mrs East said.
The competitions started last Thursday and will finish on Saturday.
