Harper kicked a game-high five goals to be best on ground in Scotch’s 14.9 (93) to 9.4 (58) away victory over Hutchins.
The home side pulled the first punch, but it didn’t take long for Scotch to assert its dominance as Lachlan Gee, Ben Simpson and Ben McShane led the way in the middle of the ground.
Scotch stretched the lead out to 28 points at the half and held a 25-point buffer at the final break before one last surge from Hutchins.
The margin was cut to less than two goals with 10 minutes to go before McShane and brother Tom sealed the result.
Alex Davies and Gee both added their second goals in the final minutes to blow the final margin out to 35 points and join Harper and Simpson as Scotch’s multiple goalkickers.
Will O’Toole also played an important role for the winners, shutting down Hutchins’ Tassie Mariners representative Oliver Burrows-Cheng.
