But Rangers never looked in danger of dropping more points in front of goal against the bottom-placed rivals.
Nick Lanau-Atkinson signalled the visitors’ intentions in just the ninth minute after pouncing onto a long kick from keeper Sam Whatman.
Clarence were stunned further after Rangers general Harry Thannhauser put Pat Lanau-Atkinson through for a second in the 13th minute.
Paul Bremner pulled one back for Clarence two minutes from injury time.
But Thannhauser got on the end of a corner to send Rangers 3-1 up, moments from heading inside the changerooms.
The home side threatened once more in the 57th minute when Ibrahim Soukary got on the end of a good ball.
But Nick Lanau-Atkinson iced the victory, the star skipper knocking in his fourth NPL goal this season with the 78th-minute sealer.
After going goal-for-goal with Kingborough, Zebras went on to score back-to-back late goals for a 4-3 win.
Saturday night’s result was a turnaround from the last time they met when the lowly Lions shocked Zebras 5-0.
