Break O’Day Council will discuss items such as funding allocations and shower additions at its meeting at St Helens on Monday morning.

Mayor Mick Tucker put forward a notice of motion for some additions to the new shower at Beauty Bay.

“The new shower that is now at Beauty Bay is already being used by the early morning swimmers, and they love it,” he said. 

Cr Tucker said a community member asked him if council could add a seat and table or bench next to the shower, so people can shower without getting their items dirty and also make it easier to put shoes and clothes on.

The council will also discuss the possibility of allocating $3715 in the 2018/2019 budget to the St Marys Community Space.

The funds would be used for signage and a standard council picnic table and chair at the space on Groom Street.

At the Dorset Council meeting at Scottsdale on Monday evening, councillors will talk about caravan parks, water restrictions, and more.

Mayor Greg Howard has again put forward a notice of motion to remove all licence and lease fees paid by sporting clubs and not-for-profit groups in the Dorset municipality.

Cr Howard first put forward the notice of motion on March 14 and was voted against at the council’s meeting on April 16.

The motion was resubmitted due to “considerable community support”, and because Cr Howard believed the “actions of one councillor” had compromised the original vote.

Councillor Lawrence Archer put forward notices of motion to make available 10 unserviced sites at the Bridport Holiday Park as a trial and during off-peak times for fully-self contained vehicles at a reduced rate.

Cr Lawrence also put forward a notice of motion for the council to write to the TasWater board about alleviating the annual water restrictions at Bridport.
